First Day of School

Aiden started Kindergarten and he LOVES it. He rides the bus so he thinks he's pretty much the bomb now. I asked him what he learned on the first day of school and he said that he learned that if you hit someone you have to go to the principal's office. A little concerned I asked if he hit someone and thankfully he said no, but someone hit him and he had to go to the Principal's office. :) Phew.

Adventures in Carlsbad

We just returned home from my grandparents house in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary and we had a family reunion to go along with it. It was fun to see family I hadn't seen in a while. It may have taken two days and twenty hours to drive there (and back) but we had a pretty good time. (And we survived all the bugs :)

Things did get a little eventful at times.
  • It was raining the day we left.
  • The DVD player in my car decided to stop working the day we left.
  • The pop-up trailer that we were pulling decided to "pop up" while we were driving just outside of Roswell.
  • Just as we were preparing to leave to come home, Millie locked herself in the car with the keys.
  • After Millie unlocked the car and we got on the road, I got pulled over (No ticket though!)
  • Outside of Gallup, NM I nearly ran my 70 year old father over with the pop up trailer.
  • And finally, I hit a deer in Price, UT. I drove 20 hours there, 20 hours back and an hour and half before home I hit a deer. Nice.
The Damage

Aiden had so much fun. He wasn't ready to come home. We went to the beach (a spot along the river with some sand) but the second time we tried to go they wouldn't let us in citing that the bacteria levels were too high. We had been there two days before. :) We went to the drive in and saw "UP" which was really cute. We went to the Caverns and Sitting Bull Falls. Mostly I just had a lot of fun hanging out with the fam.

This is how we roll at Buckner Family Reunions.

My nieces were so awesome to take care of Liam all the time.

We also went to the Bat Flight the night before. We got to see 300,000 bats flying out of the cave for the night to find food. Aiden thought it was pretty neat.

The boys had a great time trying to plug this little natural slide into the pool. The liked to let all the water rush through at once.

Graduation

Aiden had his preschool graduation at the end of May. (I know I've been a terrible blogger lately) They had a cute little program and I got lots of video of Aiden being the loudest singer in the class. :) It's awesome. (I'd post it if I knew how to get video off of my video camera.) He's officially on to Kindergarten in the fall. I can't believe my little guy is so grown up. He can't wait to go to Kindergarten, he asks me daily how much longer until he starts school. Today he wanted a time reference he could understand better so when I said he had two more months he asked, "How many shows is that?"

One Year

My little baby is one year old! I can't believe it. Although it feels like I have lived a decade in the past year alone, I feel like it was just yesterday that I was preparing for Liam's arrival. He is my little miracle baby that I'd never thought I'd get. He is such a sweet boy (who loves his mom very much :) Aiden and I have a lot of fun with him. He loves Aiden so much and Aiden loves him (sometimes a little too much.) I can't believe how big he is. He's been running around now for a few weeks and it just seems like he shouldn't be able to do that yet. Before I know it he'll be heading off to kindergarten as well. :)

Easter Time

Well I never really got around to blogging about Easter so here is a flash back to two weeks ago and Easter. We had a very nice Easter. My sister's baby was blessed and we had a big family deal with lots of great food and a LOT of people. It was a beautiful day and the kids really enjoyed their Easter egg hunt.

Oh and Liam took his first step that day too! :)

Not a great photo but the only one I got where you can really see the cute little onesie I made him.

California!

The last weekend in February I got to tag along on a family trip to California. It was fun to visit with family and enjoy the warm weather. I also got to visit with my childhood best friend Elissa, I hadn't seen her in nearly five years. It was great to see her and her family. My dad brought some of his old family slides so we spent two full nights looking through them with the whole family. It was pretty entertaining even though I wasn't in any of them. I think my dad enjoyed it the most though. :) The last day we were there we made sure to go to the beach. I know it's not really the time of year for the traditional "beach outing" but we had to at least go and look at it. Although it was about to rain, it was still pretty nice weather. Aiden had a blast playing with all of his cousins, even though he was revisited by an illness I thought had passed before we left. I felt bad for him, by the end of the trip he was running a fever and still trying so hard to just play and have fun with his cousins. I had a really nice time and it was difficult to come back to reality. Anne and I both agreed that we didn't want that to count as our California/beach trip for the year. We need to come back in the summer so we can swim! :)
