Adventures in Carlsbad

We just returned home from my grandparents house in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary and we had a family reunion to go along with it. It was fun to see family I hadn't seen in a while. It may have taken two days and twenty hours to drive there (and back) but we had a pretty good time. (And we survived all the bugs :)

Things did get a little eventful at times.
  • It was raining the day we left.
  • The DVD player in my car decided to stop working the day we left.
  • The pop-up trailer that we were pulling decided to "pop up" while we were driving just outside of Roswell.
  • Just as we were preparing to leave to come home, Millie locked herself in the car with the keys.
  • After Millie unlocked the car and we got on the road, I got pulled over (No ticket though!)
  • Outside of Gallup, NM I nearly ran my 70 year old father over with the pop up trailer.
  • And finally, I hit a deer in Price, UT. I drove 20 hours there, 20 hours back and an hour and half before home I hit a deer. Nice.
The Damage

Aiden had so much fun. He wasn't ready to come home. We went to the beach (a spot along the river with some sand) but the second time we tried to go they wouldn't let us in citing that the bacteria levels were too high. We had been there two days before. :) We went to the drive in and saw "UP" which was really cute. We went to the Caverns and Sitting Bull Falls. Mostly I just had a lot of fun hanging out with the fam.

Celebrating 70 years together.

This is how we roll at Buckner Family Reunions.

My nieces were so awesome to take care of Liam all the time.

We also went to the Bat Flight the night before. We got to see 300,000 bats flying out of the cave for the night to find food. Aiden thought it was pretty neat.

The view at Sitting Bull Falls.

My niece Sydnee jumping into one of the pools at the falls.

The boys had a great time trying to plug this little natural slide into the pool. The liked to let all the water rush through at once.

Roswell really embraces it's heritage.
